In
the name of God
Mr. Mohammad Karami was born an artistic family in 1930 in
Golpaygan (a township of the province of Isfehan in IRAN.)
His family had along-artistic background in
Wood Sculpture,
inlaid wood and embossed works, from father to son. His father
Hossein Karami passed away when he was only two years old.

Then his mother took after him and his two siblings (one sister
and one brother.) Later on when his mother died, his elder
brother took after them. He registered him in Ferdowsi
elementary school in Golpaygan. He studied till grade 11 and
then due to the financial problem he had to drop school. Later
on because of his remarkable talent he got hired at educational
services as a teacher for artistic course, but he didn't give up
his studies and besides teaching at school he studied at the
teacher's college of that time and succeeds to get the
certificate of primary degree from that college.

Since he was very interested in music, he started to play
violin. In a very short time he learned all melodies. Although
playing violin satiated his thirsty spirit for art, was not good
enough to make him totally satisfied. An artist is always
looking for perfection and there is no border to stop him/her of
that goal. Mr. Karami hasn't been an exception. This is so
obvious from his words and emotions when he talks about the
memories of his youth and also through all the stuffs decorated
his pleasant home with. You may find all artistic works from;
inlaid work to embossments to wood sculpture works, to glass
blowing, to calligraphy and painting and even to dried desert
flowers, wild thistles and river stones which had been decorated
by the natural events. All these show his deep and sharp look to
the art, although he basically talks a little about these, those
endowed with knowledge and arts, will find it through the angle
of his sight.

Pain and sorrow of the people around him from one hand and his
artistic spirit from the other hand put him in away which ended
to create his artistic works. His sympathy with afflicted people
made him find a way to record his emotions and effects.

In that time, he found painting as the best way to express his
feelings. There
was neither a teacher nor enough facilities and he just leaned
on his will and opened a new window in his life, then with on
extraordinary effort drew his words.
Most of his works focused
on the life of local people in Golpaygan and the villages around
it with their natural views.

I should call him a
smart hunter as he drew moments in a way you are able to
feel the same time of drawing.
As an example in one of
his works called "after rain in jungle" you can smell the
humidity in the air and feel the wet ground.

First Artist's painting
(1954)
He shows the serenity of environments and the purity of people's
hearts in his works clearly. It is necessary to say that in all
those days he lived on his low income from teaching and provided
all his essential instruments with his low money. Still he is
not happy with the expensive painting instruments that he has to buy
and he hardly provided them. Although he has overcome many
difficulties in his life, he has never had any malevolence for
any one or any thing and this shows the eminence of his pure and
gentle spirit.

One of his remarkable characteristics is that he always knows
painting as an art and not a way to earn money and still he
lives on his retirement income from teaching. According to him
he has never sold any of his art works and keep them all as if
he takes care of his children, since each one reminds him of one
moment of his life.

There is no exact / accurate statistics for his works but his
works on different techniques and subjects are about one
thousand. He basically focuses on Oil-painting more, although we
can see Water-color, Black and white-pencil, Color-pencil,
Pastel and so in his works. With sincerity Mr. Mohammad Karami
says: "I'm happy with my life and I don't need any body except
God."

Mr. Mohammad Karami is involved with Iran and his city;
Golpaygan and he is proud of that. He is very interested in
nature and spends most of his time on drawing the beautiful
nature around his place of living, Golpaygan. He had been a
painting teacher in Golpaygan for over ten years and most of the
educated people and students known him well. They always put his
name in the artists of his territory proudly.

The photos you see are parts of his hand writting he wrote for me
in his short time and I chose some of them to keep the honesty
of words (but they are in Persian language.)
